OUR DENTAL TREATMENTS
Sedation can be used alongside many, if not all, of our services. We offer a complementary consultation service to help assess your needs.
Most VIDA patients feel safe and secure when visiting their VIDA dentist, however there will be times when treatment is needed that feels a little daunting. At these times we will help you decide whether a little sedative medication is wise to ensure you sleep well the night before an important appointment and ready for treatment the next day, or whether we provide a slightly stronger sedative during the appointment itself, so you can forget about the aspects of a treatment that makes you feel anxious.
Some patients will find even a routine appointment leaves them feeling nervous with anticipation, and the thought of having a tooth removed or a filling can be enough to stop them having the treatment they need to remain healthy. At VIDA we understand that everybody is unique and we are here to help you if you are feeling overwhelmed or anxious about dental treatment.
Sedation is used when necessary to secure the best results for our patients, and you can rest assured that the sedatives we use have very good safety profiles. The VIDA team will be able to advise you on everything you need to consider and plan for to keep your treatment stress-free.
Sedation is available at VIDA for all our services and we help you decide what level of sedation is required. We offer complimentary consultations with our resident sedationist so you have all the time and information you need to make the best decision for yourself, with experts by your side.
IV sedation
Patients who receive IV Midazolam often remember very little, or nothing at all, about their dental treatment. A deep sense of relaxation is induced yet you remain awake, conscious and are able to communicate with the dentist providing your treatment. Usually you will not return to work until the next day.
For IV Sedation there is an hourly fee based on the time you require our seditionist by your side. The first hour is £300, which includes all the medication and supervised recovery time required for most of our dental treatments at VIDA.
No. The whole concept of sedation is that it is there to alleviate anxiety. The effect of having sedation to help with more anxiety-inducing procedures often results in less dental anxiety in general. Many patients find that getting the more complex treatment completed under sedation spares them the anguish of pre-treatment nerves and they reach the road to health far more quickly and happily. At VIDA we will always get as much done in a single episode of sedation as possible, often completing treatment more quickly than if you were not sedated because the dentist is able to work more effectively. Sedation is not addictive and you should not worry that you are on a slippery slope.
