If you are reluctant to talk or smile in public without hiding your teeth then tooth straightening could give you back some social confidence.
If you are reluctant to talk or smile in public without hiding your teeth due to noticeably crooked, crowded, gappy or protruding teeth, then a VIDA dentist may consider whether tooth straightening could give you back some social confidence. Straighter teeth may help you improve your gum health and cleaning by simplifying your cleaning routine. VIDA dentists are increasingly asked for straightening options for health reasons rather than as a cosmetic treatment.
The popularity of discreet adult teeth alignment treatments are growing rapidly, largely because they improve self confidence during and after treatment in patients who are unhappy with their appearance.
We offer a range of orthodontic treatments to reposition misaligned, twisted or crooked teeth.
Tooth straightening can be carried out in many different ways depending on
• The amount of correction you want, or need
• Personal preference
VIDA offers the full range of brace systems
• Lingual braces: hidden on the inside of your teeth
• Invisalign: removable clear plastic braces
• Fixed clear ceramic braces with tooth coloured wires – very discreet, ideal for moderate to complex cases
You have choices
Whether you’re aiming for absolute perfection, or a more general improvement, VIDA aims to give you choices in achieving your desired outcome, type of brace, treatment time and budget.
VIDA ensures that you get the best advice before you make your investment by undertaking a Full Orthodontic Assessment (called Records). This will include a review appointment when your orthodontic diagnosis and treatment options will be discussed in detail. You can then make an informed choice regarding your treatment and future.
How VIDA Orthodontics is different
When making any investment in life, receiving the best advice at the very start is always the ideal starting point.
Although many VIDA patients are suitable for the fast and quick orthodontics, the VIDA personalised service will identify if you are that quick 3 month case, or whether you’re more for the appearance and health, goals are better served by a lengthier treatment. Nobody wants to have treatment twice because it wasn’t completed to their satisfaction the first time!
Poorly finished orthodontics may leave you dissatisfied, or wishing you had visited the dentist who spent more time on assessing your needs and visualising the end point with you.
10 tips when deciding on braces
A whitening and Invisalign story…
A lovely young patient of ours came to us less than a year ahead of her wedding day. We undertook some gently straightening, whitening and recontouring of her teeth to bring a more harmonious appearance to her smile and improve an already stunning appearance.
The great news is that she was ready in time for her big day and her smile makeover requires minimal maintenance in future: just top-up whitening gels, some maintenance of her composite recontouring fillings, and retainers to keep her teeth in their straight position.
Following on from your Records appointment, depending on the brace system you choose, we may arrange for a digital simulation to show you a realistic picture of the results. With Invisalign this is called a “Clincheck” and is a mandatory part of the process. If you or your dentist feels that fixed braces are the most appropriate option, a “Kesling” is requested. This gives you a short digital video of the process and proposed result.
At VIDA we keep pricing simple. Your pricing will be based on the complexity of your case. We offer a clear pricing structure based on the estimated time to treat you. We can often give you an idea of a likely range of fee options when we meet you for a Complimentary Consultation.
While Invisalign is available for under £1000, very few patients fall into this low level of treatment, so please be wary of online marketing which suggests prices can be held this low for most or all patients.
VIDA will give you fee options based on your own teeth so you have accurate information which to base important decisions.
At VIDA we also tell you upfront if you need a contingency fund, what that be for, and what we think you will need to budget for future maintenance (usually plastic retainers).
With any orthodontic appliance you will need to invest extra time in your hygiene routine to prevent decay and gum problems. Fixed braces are straightforward to care for. With the VIDA Hygiene team, you will be shown all the skills you need to maintain a fresh and healthy mouth. Regular dental appointments to check for new problems must continue alongside your braces treatment.
With Invisalign and other removable braces, you can remove the braces to simplify your daily cleaning routine. They will also need to be removed for eating, which makes cleaning your brace much easier too!
This is a concern raised by almost all adults embarking on tooth straightening. The initial advice given by Dr Jamie Durrant-Fellows is “When you are next in conversation with somebody, look at their teeth… you will be surprised by how many people are wearing braces in adult life! Whether it’s clear fixed braces, lingual or Invisalign, all of these options are discreet and have been shown to work alongside a professional and social life…”
In most social situations or conversations, it would be very difficult indeed to spot somebody wearing our braces.
